ABSTRACT

PurposeUsing science mapping analysis approach and co-word analysis, the present study explores and visualizes research fields and thematic evolution of the coronavirus. Based on this method, one can get a picture of the real content of the themes in the mentioned thematic area and identify the main minor and emerging themes.Design/methodology/approachThis study was conducted based on co-word science mapping analysis under a longitudinal study (from 1988 to 2020). The collection of documents in this study was further divided into three subperiods: 1988–1998, 1999–2009 and 2010–2020. In order to perform science mapping analysis based on co-word bibliographic networks, SciMAT was utilized as a bibliometric tool. Moreover, WoS, PubMed and Scopus bibliographic databases were used to download all records.FindingsIn this study, strategic diagrams were demonstrated for the coronavirus research for a chronological period to assess the most relevant themes. Each diagram depended on the sum of documents linked to each research topic. In the first period (1988–1998), the most centralizations were on virology and evaluation of coronavirus structure and its structural and nonstructural proteins. In the second period (1999–2009), with due attention to high population density in eastern Asia and the increasing number of people affected with the new generation of coronavirus (named severe acute respiratory syndrome virus or SARS virus), publications have been concentrated on "antiviral activity.” In the third period (2010–2020), there was a tendency to investigate clinical syndromes, and most of the publications and citations were about hot topics like "severe acute respiratory syndrome,” "coronavirus” and "respiratory tract disease.” Scientometric analysis of the field of coronavirus can be regarded as a roadmap for future research and policymaking in this important area.Originality/valueThe originality of this research can be considered in two ways. First, the strategic diagrams of coronavirus are drawn in four thematic areas including motor cluster, basic and transversal cluster, highly developed cluster and emerging and declining cluster. Second, COVID-19 is mentioned as a hot topic of research.

ABSTRACT

Content marketing is becoming an important trend in the tourism industry and is attracting the attention of many stakeholders. Previous studies have sporadically highlighted only some content marketing aspects, but none comprehensively described the topic. To fill this gap, this study adopts a comprehensive approach by combining two bibliometric co-citation and co-keyword analysis methods of 659 articles on content marketing in travel sectors. The co-citation results indicate that tourism content marketing research has been concentrated on the themes of (1) the impact of electronic word of mouth (eWOM) and word of mouth (WOM) on business performance; (2) the role of social media, user-generated content (UGC) and destination image formulation; (3) the impact of eWOM and UGC on the decision-making process; as well as (4) opportunities and challenges. Additionally, based on the co-keyword analysis, hot research topics are explored, including online review implementation; UGC implementation; communication and information search; customer behavior prediction model; the decision-making process; and issues related to user experience, quality, and management. Among these, UGC implementation is the most likely trend that researchers can develop in the future. In addition, the influence of other types of UGC (e.g., user-generated travel videos) is a promising avenue for future research. This study will help researchers understand the role and influence of tourism content marketing. Furthermore, tourism marketers can use content marketing to restore destination image and address last-minute booking issues after the COVID-19 pandemic.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: This study aims to identify the characteristics and future directions of online medical education in the context of the novel coronavirus outbreak new through visual analytics using CiteSpace and VOSviewer bibliometric methods. METHOD: From Web of Science, we searched for articles published between 2020 and 2022 using the terms online education, medical education and COVID-19, ended up with 2555 eligible papers, and the articles published between 2010 and 2019 using the terms online education, medical education and COVID-19, and we ended up with 4313 eligible papers. RESULTS: Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Medical students and care were the most frequent keywords and the most cited author was BRENT THOMA with 18 times. The United States is the country with the greatest involvement and research impact in the field of online medical education. The most cited journal is ACAD MED with 1326 citations. After the COVID-19 outbreak, a surge in the number of research results in related fields, and ANXIETY and four secondary keywords were identified. In addition, the concentration of authors of these publications in the USA and China is a strong indication that local epidemics and communication technologies have influenced the development of online medical education research. Regarding the centrality of research institutions, the most influential co-author network is Harvard Medical School in the United States; and regarding the centrality of references, the most representative journal to which it belongs is VACCINE. CONCLUSION: This study found that hey information such as keywords, major institutions and authors, and countries differ in the papers before and after the COVID-19 outbreak. The novel coronavirus outbreak had a significant impact on the online education aspect. For non-medical and medical students, the pandemic has led to home isolation, making it difficult to offer face-to-face classes such as laboratory operations. Students have lost urgency and control over the specifics of face-to-face instruction, which has reduced the quality of teaching. Therefore, we should improve our education model according to the actual situation to ensure the quality of teaching while taking into account the physical and psychological health of students.

ABSTRACT

This study maps the conceptual structure of health technology assessment (HTA) research with the aim of contributing to a better understanding of this research stream. A bibliometric analysis of 1,198 HTA articles retrieved from the Web of Science database was conducted. The analysis of descriptive performance indicators identified the main traits of the scientific debate about the HTA in terms of publications, productive countries, and sources. A co-word analysis was performed by adopting social network analysis tools to map the conceptual structure of the dataset. The results highlight the growing academic interest in the research topic, especially in recent years. The results revealed that HTA is a widely known term and represents the reference paradigm for assessment in healthcare technologies. This paper contributes to the field by providing an examination of the current state of the art of HTA research and identifying possible future research directions. This study differs from existing studies because it involved a conceptual analysis of the scientific literature using macro keywords.

ABSTRACT

Recent literature suggests there is a natural connection between innovation and digital transformation, two key topics of interest in management and organization that have spawned large, independent and well-defined areas of study. While this connection might be analytically straightforward and notable examples are not hard to find, in everyday life, it materializes in a multiplicity of ways. A need emerges, then, to better understand the interaction between innovation and digital transformation so that it can be explored and exploited by actors in academia and the public, private and third sectors. In this article, we use a co-word analysis, a text mining technique that permits to systematically map the intellectual structure of a research field, to characterize the most notable dynamics of 'innovation-driven digitalization' and 'digitalized innovation'- the two major dimensions of interaction between innovation and digital transformation. The text identifies the relevant themes, subthemes and concepts that appear in the literature, as well as their relationship and level of development. It, then, aggregates them in a taxonomy that, on the one hand, readily displays their connection and, on the other hand, (i) informs about current or potential controversies, (ii) gaps, (iii) lines for novel and further research, and (iv) alternatives to bridge to other areas of study.

ABSTRACT

Health communication is a new field focusing on the “powerful role” of human and media communication in health care services and health promotion. This study intends to explore the intellectual structure of knowledge in health communication literature using the co-word analysis technique. The applied descriptive-analytical method was used in this study to analyze the literature content with a hierarchical clustering approach. For data collection, the descriptors of the keyword “Health Communication” were searched in the medical subject heading (MeSH) in the PubMed database on November 18, 2021, for the period of 1959–2021. Data analysis and clustering were performed using SPSS software (version 20), RavarPremap software, Excell, Ucinet and VosViewer software. Data analysis indicates that scientific articles on communication health have experienced ascending growth pattern. Moreover, the findings on hierarchical clustering led to the formation of six subject clusters with the predominant subjects of " COVID-19 Pandemic, Health Education & Vaccine Hesitancy." The present study revealed a structural relationship among subject concepts in the clusters created with common features within each group. This study provided valuable insights into scientific communication patterns in health communication research produced in the PubMed database.

ABSTRACT

Besides the concerns about medical, health, and mental health issues as the essential parts of research on COVID-19, social sciences, and humanities research also have been affected by the situation. In this sense, the primary purpose of the current study was to map the conceptual structure of COVID-19 literature in the social sciences area. About 2587 documents related to "COVID-19" in the social sciences which indexed in the Scopus database during 2020 were considered as the research data. Based on the cohesion measure, the co-word network of COVID-19 literature in the social sciences area was cohesive. The main themes raised in the research clusters were: Environmental issues, social quality service, crisis management, social support, and COVID-19 social effects. Research results revealed that emerging thematic clusters contain topics such as climate change, environment, vulnerable populations, culture, and quality of life, fake new, and social identity. In addition, the present study also predicted that at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, its social effects on societies could be consistent: thus, it is recommended that research on COVID-19 effects in the area of social sciences in universities and research institutions should be reconsidered.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: To visualize the evolution of all registered COVID-19 vaccine trials. STUDY DESIGN AND SETTING: As part of the living mapping of the COVID-NMA initiative, we identify biweekly all COVID-19 vaccine trials and automatically extract data from the EU clinical trials registry, ClinicalTrials.gov, IRCT and the World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registry Platform. Data are curated and enriched by epidemiologists. We have used the phylomemy reconstruction process to visualize the temporal evolution of COVID-19 vaccines trials descriptions. We have analyzed the textual contents of 1,794 trials descriptions (last search in October 2021) and explored their collective structure along with their semantic dynamics. RESULTS: The structures highlighted by the phylomemy reconstruction processes synthesize the complexity of the knowledge produced by the research community. The reconstructed phylomemy clearly retrieves the five major COVID-19 vaccine platforms in the form of complete branches. The branches interactions reflect the exploration of a new approach to vaccine implementation moving from homologous prime vaccination to heterologous prime vaccination. Phylomemies also clearly identifies shifts in research questions, from vaccine efficacy to booster efficacy. CONCLUSION: This new method provides important insights for the global coordination between research teams especially in crisis situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

ABSTRACT

The paper intends to understand the research trends in "Covid-19 and SME" through a Systematic Literature Review and extract themes to explore the most affected areas of SMEs during the Covid 19 pandemic. Subsequently, the study attempted to understand how SMEs of a developing country strive during this crisis and recommend a resilience strategy framework to navigate SMEs in post-Covid situations. The authors extracted data from Scopus and Web of science to conduct a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), Extracted data from both databases were merged using R programming. Each extracted data has its uniqueness in an organization;we use converted web of science data to Scopus data to get the same tag in R programming. The study adopts a bibliometric analysis to present the research corpus in the domain of “Covid-19 and SMEs”. The cluster method of R programming has been used to usher the significantly affected areas of SMEs. Based on the cluster theme, an open-ended questionnaire was developed and used to interview 23 SMEs in Bangladesh for the case study. Nvivo-13.00 was used to extract the topic from the transcriptions of the interviews. The study reveals that Cash flow shortages and Supply Chain Disruptions are the critical constraints of SMEs. On the contrary, Digital transformation has gained momentum during this crisis. Enterprises that made the best use of digital platforms through technology, digital marketing, and innovations secured the peak of success and profitability. The study also recommends a critical dynamic, resilient strategy model to adopt in the "new normal" for successful navigation of SME business in the future. The study is the first of its kind that integrates SLR and a case study on the hurdles of SME owners during the Covid 19 crisis. Thus, it helps advance the understanding of the subject matter and enables the formulation of resilient strategies by policymakers and SME owners to navigate the business in any potential crisis in the future. The study has significant methodological contribution as it presents how to merge both Scopus and web of science data to conduct bibliometric analysis through R programming. Besides, it also contributes to using R's clustering method to extract themes for SME and Covid -19 domain. Finally, the study presents an overview of SMEs in crisis such as Covid-19 and a case study of a rising economy and its response measures. The Case study has been designed to concentrate on Bangladesh's SME owners and practical implications potentially limited to emerging Asian Economies.

ABSTRACT

This paper presents the results of a bibliometric analysis of academic research dealing with COVID-19 in the area of city destination development from 1 December 2019 to 31 March 2021. Particularly, by means of SciMAT software, it identifies, quantifies, and visually displays the main research clusters, thematic structure and emerging trends that city and tourism planners will face in the new normal. The search revealed that social media and smart tourism are the themes with the greatest potential; sustainable cities, local destination development, changes in tourist behavior, and tourists' risk perception are underdeveloped streams with enormous relevance and growth in the new normal. Research on the effects of COVID-19 on citizen health and its economic impact on the tourism industry and cities are intersectional and highly developed topics, although of little relevance. The current study also identifies the challenges of destination research for planners and proposes future research directions. Consequently, this paper contributes to the existing literature on COVID-19 and sustainable cities, as it develops a critical examination of the extant research and points out the research gaps that must be filled by future studies.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all aspects of society. Researchers worldwide have been working to provide new solutions to and better understanding of this coronavirus. In this research, our goal was to perform a Bibliometric Network Analysis (BNA) to investigate the strategic themes, thematic evolution structure and trends of coronavirus during the first eight months of COVID-19 in the Web of Science (WoS) database in 2020. To do this, 14,802 articles were analyzed, with the support of the SciMAT software. This analysis highlights 24 themes, of which 11 of the more important ones were discussed in-depth. The thematic evolution structure shows how the themes are evolving over time, and the most developed and future trends of coronavirus with focus on COVID-19 were visually depicted. The results of the strategic diagram highlight 'CHLOROQUINE', 'ANXIETY', 'PREGNANCY' and 'ACUTE-RESPIRATORY-SYNDROME', among others, as the clusters with the highest number of associated citations. The thematic evolution. structure presented two thematic areas: "Damage prevention and containment of COVID-19" and "Comorbidities and diseases caused by COVID-19", which provides new perspectives and futures trends of the field. These results will form the basis for future research and guide decision-making in coronavirus focused on COVID-19 research and treatments.

ABSTRACT

Background-Communities played a key role in preventing the spread of coronavirus, not only during the threshold period of the epidemic but also in the normal stage of prevention. Scientifically evaluating the community's work is necessary for prevention in the normal period of the epidemic and can provide a reference for the management of different countries. Methods-Based on data envelopment analysis (DEA), this article used community worker data to evaluate the matching of service supply and demand during the epidemic period and used co-word analysis to analyze the content and the residents' demands for community service from the threshold period to the normal period of the epidemic. Results-According to the results of the DEA model, early in the epidemic, 13 of the 15 districts' DEA values were invalid, indicating that there was a shortage in community workers in Wuhan. The results of public opinion analysis showed that from the threshold to the normal period of the epidemic, the emphasis on community service gradually transformed from epidemic prevention to an integrated service, which effectively met the composite service needs of community residents for both prevention and life. Conclusions-In the face of public health emergencies, the government should ensure an adequate number of service personnel, mobilize the service resources, refine the service content, and adjust the incentive policy, which can help to improve the quality of residents' lives and the coordination degree of the prevention and control as part of the epidemic control in the emergency period and the social and economic recovery after the epidemic.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has been labeled as a black swan event that caused a ripple effect on every aspect of human life. Despite the short time span of the pandemic-only four and half months so far-a rather large volume of research pertaining to COVID-19 has been published (107 articles indexed in Scopus and the Web of Science). This article presents the findings of a bibliometric study of COVID-19 literature in the business and management domain to identify current areas of research and propose a way forward. The analysis of the published literature identified four main research themes and 18 sub-themes. The findings and propositions of this study suggest that COVID-19 will be the catalyst of several long- and short-term policy changes and requires the theoretical and empirical attention of researchers. The offered propositions will act as a roadmap to potential research opportunities.
